Description Hey everybody, it's time for a hero upload, this time Katar-Hol, AKA Hawkman!!!

A policeman and citizen soldier from the planet Thanagar, Katar and his partner/lover, Shayera-Hol went in search of a criminal named Byth Roc, who'd just stolen a transwarp cruiser, and their patrol ship was the only ship that could lock onto Byth's signature.  However, while in pursuit, the duo crash landed in Egypt, and were visited by the shades of their Earthen counterparts, Pharaoh Khufu and Queen Shiera.  As the son of one of Thanagar's greatest heroes, Katar and Shayera found their metallic wings replaced with wings of flesh and blood.  Trained by the Amazons of Bana Midghal in Ancient Egyptian warfare, Katar now fights evil as the feathery winged hero, Hawkman!!!

For Hawman's appearance, I was really inspired by the classic design but I wanted to give him a khopesh instead of a mace, since I wanted there to be an Egyptian touch to the character.  I also took reference from my take on Hawkgirl and had the helmet so that it wouldn't block his face.

Disclaimer:  Hawkman belongs to DC Comics, Gardner Fox and Dennis Neville.

The helmets covering their faces wasn't really all that great of a look anyway (Shayera looked so much better in Justice League Unlimited when she stoped using it). This is a good compromise while still keeping the Thanagarian aesthetic.

Thanks!! I found it hard to draw that style, so I opted for the helmet being open faced with the eyeholes being for decoration. It's kind of like how the Ancient Greek warriors would lift up their Corinthian helmets in order to see clearly on the battlefield, and since Egypt was once ruled by the Greeks in the 4th Century BC, I figured, why not?

It was a good choice to go with (I always found the full face masks that Hawkman, and Hawkwoman wore to be a little silly looking).

P.S. I posted a comment on your Indigo pic about a character who could be a good addition to your version of the Outsiders.

I'm glad to hear it. I also began a page for a potential manga that could get me in as an artist for DC Comics. It's a manga that not only introduces Supergirl's origin story, but also it shows how she ends up joining the Titans. One of the scenes is at an amusement park, and this was inspired by Justice League VS Teen Titans. Cyborg realizes that he's broken the high striker and Kid Flash asks Raven if she wants to try it, at which she gives him a miffed look, but then shows surprise at the fact they look silly in the distortion mirrors. The text is all in Japanese as well.

That sounds really interesting (especially since the Teen Titans cartoon was so Anime/Manga influenced in it's design).

Thanks. I'm going with the Marv Wolfman/George Pérez roster for the Titans (the original Titans). So it's Robin (Dick Grayson), Wonder Girl (Donna Troy), Kid Flash (Wally West), Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Raven, Jericho and Kole. I wanted to add Kara because before Crisis on Infinite Earths, she was around when Teen Titans got started back in the 1960s. So I felt she should've had every right to be a Teen Titan before and even during Crisis on Infinite Earths. Also it follows Jeph Loeb's introduction of Supergirl with elements from Justice League VS Teen Titans along with some elements of my own.

It's kinda hard to beat the Wolfman/Perez lineup for the Teen Titans.

P.S. I left a late response post on your Jade pic about a character she could possibly be involved with (since she and Kyle weren't involved with each other in your version).

I concur. I also added Kole in there because she would've been a key member of the Titans had she not died in Crisis on Infinite Earths. So by having Kole present, I wanted to take a whole new spin on the character, flesh her out and even have some awkward moments between her and Jericho.

Like with the cartoon, I made it so all the Titans were younger, say early to mid teens when they formed their team. So Kole ran away at the age of 14, and joined the Titans when she was 16. Her dad was still a crazy mad scientist, thinking he was doing what was best for mankind, but Kole was kind of like Terra in that she at first couldn't control her powers, and the Teen Titans rescued her. So her role in the Titans was what Terra's role would've been had she not betrayed the Titans.
