Update 1: Splatoon Shop: Open Project Beta 0.9 Released
The credit is yours!
Splatoon Shop is an open project , discover how to join us: You can provide new designs for the project . These drawings will be saved in the final version and made available for community use . This will ensure new items in the shops every day (Weapons / Clothes / shoes / headgears ), and guarantee you, contributor, an outstanding space HERE in the hall of fame . The project lasts 3 months. Its starts today (September 12) and goes until December 11 2015. In the end, we will do something unprecedented:
Make available all the contents to the community, which includes: source codes, images, unpublished materials, EVERYTHING !

I definitely want to contribute to this lovely thing, though I don't know where to start.
For some reason, I've never been happy with the lack of pants in Splatoon; weather probably prohibits, but at least more variations on shorts wouldn't hurt.

Sure, you can submit any weapon/clothing/headgear/shoes from the game or create your own. We'll soon make the inkling model available, so you guys can draw more easily.

That's a great idea. As soon as we finish both inklings and add some more features to the game, we'll look forward to adding Octolings! And of course, depending on the community's help we can launch it sooner too! Any help is appreciated
