A Mandrake’s scream can usually only harm non-Mandrakes.

Mandrakes have horrible eyesight, but in exchange for this have supernatural hearing. Most eye care businesses do outstandingly well in the kingdom do to the need for contacts, eyeglasses, and corrective surgery.

Pulling on a Mandrake’s leaves hard enough will cause them to involuntarily scream, a painful situation to non-Mandrakes.

Due to Mandrakes being a key ingredient in most potions, wizards are more or less put under restriction if in the kingdom. Members in the magic research department work together with the science department in order to create synthetic ingredients that act a friendly substitute in potions.

All Mandrakes have potent magic lying dormant inside of them, which is why they are key ingredients in some potions. Only members of the royal family have the ability to awaken this potential in themselves and others. Outside of the royal family, only select members of the royal guard are usually allowed to have their magic awakened.

Bio:

Cybele is a shut in of a princess who would honestly love nothing more to stay locked in her room 24/7 binge watching movies she’s seen hundreds of time by now or building the one model she has for the umpteenth time this week. Too bad she has to get out to take care of things like paperwork, personal hygiene, and feeding herself since no one will hand deliver her meals or documents to her anymore. Is it really too much to ask to have a bathroom and kitchen added into her room?

Though it isn’t like Cybele was always like this. She actually used to get out and get some fresh air when she was a kid. Up until she was kidnapped by a couple of rogue Mandrakes after going a little too far from the castle. They wanted the power to wield their dormant magic and one, still not believing that the girl hadn’t undergone the training necessary to do so, yanked on her leaves causing her to scream and harm all of them. Eventually found and returned to the castle, due to this experience Cybele has gained a reluctance to leave her castle walls.

Fun Facts:

Usually gets her exercise for running from her castle staff and family. Has become a pro at scaling the walls and hiding in the rafters.

Owns a blanket that she absolutely treasures; it’s an actual prop from her favorite horror/romance movie, “Rot Your Heart Out”. She can still smell the fake blood on it.

Horror movies are her jam.

Dislikes associating with others unless they’re able to nerd out on one of her interests.

Smol grumpypants.

Hardly gets any sleep between working and her late night movie marathons.

Lives off coffee. Though it’s more like cream and sugar by the time she gets it how she likes it.
