Description
Another symbiote character originating from a video game, here's Monster Ock! In the 2000 Spider-Man PlayStation game, Doctor Octopus and Carnage are the main villains, working together to infect the world with an army of symbiotes. Spider-Man and Venom arrive to defeat them, with Spidey fighting Otto and Venom fighting Carnage. While Spidey defeats Doc Ock, Venom is overpowered, so Spidey has to beat Carnage as well. Upon defeat, the Carnage symbiote separates from Cletus Kasady and bonds with the unconscious Doc Ock, transforming him into Monster Ock! As Otto's underwater base starts to explode, Spidey flees the monster rather than fighting him, but Monster Ock gives chase. Monster Ock is eventually beaten when after being caught in an explosion, though the symbiote protected Doc Ock from the explosion, albeit with his mechanical arms being severed from his body. The symbiote retreats into the factory, presumably to return to Cletus, while Spidey carries Ock to the surface where he's later taken into custody.A version of Monster Ock appears in the first part of the "Symbiote Saga" multi-parter of the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, where Dr. Michael Morbius, a Hydra scientist in this version, infected him with the Carnage symbiote after Otto had injected him with a vampire bat formula.
