Description
I'm playing with anaglyphs- the 3d pictures you view with red/cyan glasses. Red on the left eye, cyan on the right. The idea is that your monitor shoots out 3 different colours of light, because your eyes see light in this way. The anaglyph works by letting the left eye see only the red, and the right eye see the green and blue. The image is made by rendering the left eye image and multiplying by red (rgb(255,0,0)), and the right eye image is multiplied by cyan (rgb(0,255,255)). To combine the red and cyan images i put on on top of the other as a "screen" layer.
In practice, it seems my left eye can still see quite a bit of the green. That has been problematic in other pics i tried. Also, you need to make sure each eye can percieve edges/textures- so there should be a change/variation in the red, as well as the cyan (ie green or blue) in the picture.
On top of this, there's the question of how much to space the two pics, as well as the fov. I've not really worked it out, and am playing it by ear. I've decided it's not a really good idea to space the pics apart `correctly` by your eye-eye distance on screen, because if the screen displays the image bigger than i expect, or you zoom into the pic, the distance becomes to much, and it messes up. Instead i opt to have the distance go to zero or slightly negative for the "nearest" parts of the picture so that they appear at the screen or slightly in front.
Anyhow, it's a bit of fun. This pic could do with less darkness and more features for depth cues yada ya.
I should credit the peeps who made the stuff here: malefic, kozaburo, baron vlad harkonnen, trekkie girl, the judge. I think that's it.
This is all academic if nobody has the 3d specs- does anybody?

Thanks. This was rendered in DAZ3D, which, as far as I know, uses content compatible with Poser. You import stock models, figures, clothing and stuff, set up the scene, poses, camera, lighting settings etc. Give it a go.

Thanks for reply, I has found their site.
I'll try to create something myself.

Smart man. If only there were more like you. I think that makes it a whopping three people who presently have 3d glasses, myself included.

Don't cry. I think there's a website where you can get free 3d glasses if you live in the US. Not sure what's in it for them though. You may as well wait until some turn up, and come back to have a look then.
It's a scrap because i think i can do significantly better soon, fingers crossed.

Dang, I wish my eyes weren't so screwed up. Those specs usually don't work for me, thanks to a NASTY eye condition that has been my bane since birth. I'm gonna try to get some anyway though. On the bright side I can sort of see the picture. I like the pose, and how she's balanced so precariously and yet so calmly. At least if that is what's happening. Not too easy to see. *shrugs*

No idea what it's called. But basically when I was just a young child they found the nerve running from my eye to my brain was too long, so I had REALLY bad double vision. They did an operation which meant my eye was out of it's socket for awhile (which makes for a good talking point at parties), but they ended up shortening the nerve. This helped my vision, but the rest of the problem is a brain thing. My brain doesn't put the images from the two eyes together properly, so I still have double vision, just not as bad. My right eye has become more dominant though, so I sort of ignore what I see out of my left eye. But the end case is I have bad hand eye co-ordination and things like 3-D pictures like your one, as well as some of those optical illusions don't work for me. And that's all. Kind of a long comment really.

Interesting. Can you judge depth in real life then?
If it makes you feel any better, i am afflicted with myopia.

I'm not very good at judging depth in real life at all to be honest. I fail terribly at catching things. Luckily when it comes to things involving just one eye or aiming I'm quite the dab hand. Shame about your myopia. Can you wear glasses or contacts or something?

I wear glasses. I should get some contacts, but i can't be arsed right now.
Glasses are cool because they stop stuff going in your eyes, but uncool because they have a habit of getting broken by footballs.
