Not that I know of. That's not usually a step in my digital coloring method that picked up on. The Gimp trick works on using 2 filter processes, sometimes only just 1 filter process depending if the original sketch is already darkened pretty well. The process cleans up the art in a way that only completely leaves the art as full White (0,0,0) and Black (255,255,255).Β
At that point, coloring is as easy as removing a few dots here and there, connecting a few lines, and using the Paint Bucket tool the whole way after that. And if you want to get a little extra work, adding shading and shine and other effects I've taught a number of friends that has also learned my way of digital coloring. Ha ha!

How did you get the outlines to look like that?

The lining process from making a traditional art into a digital one?
Well with using GIMP, it's only two steps.
Step 1) If the line art is too thin and nearly not dark enough cause you didn't apply enough pressure with the pencil or didn't go over with a pen, this is the step your going to need, otherwise this step can be skipped. Go to Filters -> Artistic -> Cartoon. There will be 2 options, Mask Radius and Percentage Black. Set Mask Radius to 100% and percentage Black to a small percent, like between 1-10%, maybe just leave at 0% if things look good with just the Mask Radius as 100%.
Step 2) This is the most important and easiest step to turning most and any traditionally drawn artwork into a digital line art. Go to Filters -> Artistic -> Photocopy. You will see 4 options, SET THEM ALL TO 100%. And there you go, a perfect True Black(255,255,255) and White (0,0,0) artwork that's ready for digital coloring. With a few needs for fixing of course. Like removing unwanted dots and connecting lines here and there for when your using the paint bucket tool.Β

I know I've told you about GIMP before also. I've told a ton of different friends about the Free art program I've been using for years to color artworks with ease. I even have a journal for a beginners guide to using GIMP to color most/any traditionally drawn artwork.Β

Glad you got a hang of digital coloring, the artwork looks nice, but I'm sure things will look even better once you get the hang of applying shade and shine to the arts.Β
But a great first try at digital, that's for sure. Ha ha!

Sure thing, and I still got more to teach you, but for another time of course. Keep practicing and I'm sure you'll learn more on your own possibly. But no worries, I will be there to teach you more tricks and whatnot. Ha ha!
And you should have came to my stream so you could have seen those tricks I use to digital color.Β
