I wasn't really satisfied with the original since it didn't really jive with the description I had for her. The face also didn't really look right, so after all the reworking the only thing left from the original was the hair...

Well, I've only watched tv shows and adaptations of a lot of the older wuxia novels, but my favorite is probably Xiao Ao Jiang Hu by Jin Rong
