Description
A character design concept for another main character of VRO: Miyu. She's actually undergone the most changes since I originally designed her. She went from being a relatively minor side character the Shonen Jump one-shot entry I made to a major side character to a main character. I didn't actually like her outfit design that much here, so I didn't end up coloring it. Her redesign will be what I'm working on next.Related content

What a darling little fuzzball. The hood design on the bottom is my favorite.

No for real! SO incredible! how long did it take you to get to this level? You probably had a lot of accounts before you decided to start out fresh? Probably will become famous or already are.

I've been doodling on and off for about 15 years. I pretty much started when I was a kid. However, if you put in the time and effort it shouldn't take you anywhere near that time. There's way more tutorials and videos around now that teach people things a lot faster than when I was just messing around. I've gone on plenty of long breaks where I didn't draw anything at all too. I think if you just put in 10-15 hours a week you can probably get to a level you'd be happy with in 2-3 years.
I actually haven't had any accounts before this. I only used 1 art forum for most of my life and only moved here because that forum pretty much died due to people leaving for tumblr/facebook/deviantArt.
If you need any help or pointers just send me a note with a WIP and I can tell you what I think, but be warned I might be a bit more harsh that what you might have been used to.

That explains a lot... I know that the only way to get good is to practice. Ever since I was young I spent my life working full time jobs and because of that I never really had any time to draw or get better. I used the little time I had to do what I could and most of it to talk to my friends on skype or just relax in general. I was constantly coming home mentally exhausted and didn't have the will to do anything anymore. I feel a little too old to improve now, I'm almost a 30 year old ojisan. If I can give it 5 hours a day then I can consider myself lucky I'm busy now with game development to and has been my main focus above drawing but I want to get good!
Harsh?! HAha... There's no one harsher than this guy to me, I'm used to "hars" and I'd really appreciate it, I know and I can see how much I suck!
I never really followed anyone with great skills before as I was just looking at their art and moving on to another but I'll make you the first person I'll follow through the end, you got me aa big hipped now!
Thanks, I'd appreciate everything and I'll be keeping an eye on you!

Game development takes a lot of time and effort, I can see why it'd be hard to do any work towards improving if you're focused on that. But if you set a few concrete goals (even if they're simple) you can work towards them in whatever time you can spare and you'll see improvement in even a few months. Plus you'll feel a lot better when you accomplish them as opposed to having more vague, grander goals that you can never seem to approach.

Can't seem to approach, actually little by little, game development is progressing (apparently, I'm heading in the right direction) and so is my coloring/painting style but seems I lack behind in drawing. That I need to practice! I'll just give them all time but I seriously need to dedicate more time to drawing practice because at this rate I'll get good in 10 years!
Btw, Robot Cat is a funny, catchy name, I like it. Maybe I'll the origins someday.

I think for drawing practice it might be best to keep a sketchbook around (a small one that's easily portable) and just doodle when you have free time or bored.
As for my name it took me a while to come up with it but I'm pretty satisfied.

There are some typos there,
... I'm used to "harsh*" ...
... you got me a bit hyped* now!
Hes right, Invest 90 minutes a day, and you can get 10+ hours a week.
I am trying hard to invest at least 30 minutes a day these days.
Good luck with the practices~

Well, I'm supposed to be a Robot Cat that draws anime girls, not a human that draws Robot Cats. I hope that clears it up
She's actually going from a cat girl into a wolf girl. And you're right, she'll definitely have a more 'snow' terrain outfit with a cloak and hood (kind of like the small hood sketch at the bottom). Layered frills are also a no go. They're a pain to draw but what's worse is the shadowing becomes even more time consuming. Since the VRO designs are supposed to be for a webcomic I'll definitely be streamlining all of them to be easier on the time commitment.

i was actually hoping for robot cat art
why a wolf girl cat girls are so much better ( course one glance at my gallery shows im kinda ...biased..just biased )
and a lot of my designs are fairly streamlined as well
the more often you draw something the more streamlined it has to be
something mark bagley im sure is regretting when he designed carnage in 1992 >>static.comicvine.com/uploads/o…

I'm changing Neko Noire into a catgirl (she wasn't actually a cat girl before) and I don't want to have 2 cat girls as main characters.
Marvel is super detailed already. I mean, they draw super detailed muscles even though they're all supposed to be wearing spandex (which is supposed to not show any muscle detailing at all!) so it's only SLIGHTLY more complicated than what normally goes there.

cats are always more fun
course i would say that
im not sure they are supposed to be wearing spandex at all
they never mention spandex to be honest
but carnage isnt wearing spandex at all his costume is alive ( and it abit of tizzy it seems)

RobotCatArt In reply to Snow-katt [2015-10-20 22:19:22 +0000 UTC]
Well, the original superhero costumes were based off of circus strongmen, which did wear spandex and shorts over them (which is why all the original designs all had underwear like shorts on the outside). Subsequent designs just copied off of that until later where they decided to give the spandex some techno-babble explanation as to why they don't tear as easily as normal spandex.

i blame clark once again
but carnage's costume is alive even if it looks like dripping blood ( i believe that was the point there )
venom has a nice clean design

Yeah but if you look at some artist renditions they go overboard on the details even when it's not supposed to be like Carnage's. Especially some of the late 90's designs with the heavy inks and all the guys had veins in their muscles, body hair, and lots and lots of pouches.

Oh yeah, my timeline is a bit rusty. Late 90's was the 'edge' period? Or was that early 90's too.

Snow-katt In reply to RobotCatArt [2015-10-20 23:10:07 +0000 UTC]
that was the early 90's too
late 90's was the implosion and the reboot of spiderman ( not clone saga that was mid 90's )
and the start of widescreen comics ( planetary authority )
the early 90's are EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME ie spawn x force cyberforce ghostrider venom carnage
then again transmetropolitan planetary and the authority could be seen as edgy comics
