I started using a new program recently that lets you load in your own custom icons, so I thought I'd have fun with it by practicing with another new program I've not used before, PikoPixel. I have to admit, Piko is really nice! It takes some getting used to, but to help with that it shows all the most common keyboard shortcuts in a small floating panel. I haven't opened up the help file yet and so far I've learned a lot about the general work flow. There are a few things I've seen in the demo videos on YouTube that I want to look into though, so the docs can't wait forever. :-D

As for the drawing: After experimenting a bit I decided that black and white would be better than color, especially since the icons can only be 16x16 pixels. The defaults that came with the program weren't great, and everything was just too busy. I've got more to make, and I think I'm going to create some icons for my desktop as well.
