Description Since the elite Tallest won the poll for next character to being modeled and modded to be playable in Left4Dead2, here is the in progress work of it. There is a lot of areas that need to be colored and textured properly so the model does look very bland at the moment. The model is grey because I hadn't decided which tallest I'm doing first. So it can be either Red or Purple at this stage.
I made them more in proportion and more in my style because when they are being rigged they'll have to be in proportion when being modded over the original survivors skeletons. Also when I'm done they are not going to be this shiny. Maybe the armor may be a little  but not crazy, shiny like this. :U

Hey there dude. I was wondering what program you're using, and if you had any tutorials on 3D modeling you used. I'm having a lot of trouble with modeling, and that's been keeping me from trying.

I use the latest program blender which is free. Blender however is considered the hardest 3d program out there though. In order to learn it was a bit difficult because blenders interface is very odd. It's a program best used with keybinds instead of looking for everything in it's confusing layout and wording. With blender it's probably best to find out which tools to find using keyboard shortcuts. A good tutorial for modeling that I used was this cgi.tutsplus.comtutorialscreat… and it's second part.

I not just only used tutorials, I imported premade models and studied them, examining how they were created so that was a big step towards learning. Texturing is also a huge one, with materials that will be needed with each model. With that Photoshop and programs that support alpha channels are needed, this means you cannot use SAI unless you don't want transparency or your model looking pretty with reflection, shine, or any effects placed on it. Then I guess you can use SAI if you're not after a pretty look. Materials I thought was more frustrating than the actual modeling at first too but I didn't learn about them using blender tutorials.

I learned how to use materials while in the process of modding with trial and error, so finding a tutorial on that might be a bit difficult. I highly recommend you check out some video tutorials on youtube when it comes to rigging, vertex/flex motion, materials, and that more complex stuff. Usually the blender artists on youtube are pretty good and very specific, so simple people like me can easily understand it.
