Description Okay, I fiddled around with the Editable Poly edit mode in 3ds Max 9. I added a map of metal to the armor plates in Adobe Photoshope, and gave the armor a more realistic look. I didn't tae the time to custom make a bump map, so I ran the original texture through the Normal map filter I have, so the bump mapping is just beyond terrible now. So do comment and enjoy people.

And since two people have said I made this, I didn't, I'm NOT that good. I just merely added more detail to make it look more real.

You should use it in custom edition.

Aren't they basically the same?

nah, you have to use sapien or somthing in CE, where as modding you use a few different BUT BASIC tools. modding= shotgun shooting fuel rods and lots of dead people XD

CE= frustration.

You're right, the bump is pretty bad. You should take a look at other's work to see how they make textures. Here's a psd of my most recent texture I made [link] . It's the diffuse texture for my halo 3 style energy sword handle I'm making. The way it's done is easy to learn and yields great results while allowing the user to easily and flexibly make changes. [link] that's what it looks like applied to the handle. Please don't take credit for my work. I open source it for people like you who need help with theirs.

I usually prefer to make my own stuff nowadays or recreate them, so dun worry about me trying to take credit for your work, I'm not like that, and holy crap that render is amazing.

And this render is beyond outdated, I just need to worry more about colour and weathering now on textures, Normal maps are a chore for me though.

and the link says the file is unavailable.

I feel the same way about normal maps. They're quite easy for me to make in Photoshop or 3ds max so I don't worry about keeping the source height maps. It's all guess and check for me as far as getting the height right so I change the height often till it's juuuuust right. Also, here's the psd's for all of the handle's textures. I decided to include the specular levels and specular color to show you how easily I good and effective I could make them look from a few simple changes to the diffuse. Here's the file I just uploaded. [link] Hope you learn from it though I don't call myself a pro yet.

Well it's uncanny I can say that, It looks rather convincing enough to look like the Halo 3's style

Also, I realize it might not look quite right in the renders, I'm still messing around with max's rendering capabilities and shaders.

Pretty good, did you put that model together yourself? And why the Mk-V though? Why not the Mk-VI?

And in other Halo related stuff how's your Halo/Starfox story-comic thing coming along?

By the way, I accidentally clicked a thing up above by the pic and now it sez 'rint Requested', if you get a message concerning that just ignore it.

Well, I always thought the Mk5 armor looked cooler, and more alien. A friend of mine says that the Halo 2 Mk6 made the chief look like he was wearing a bra. Anyhow, I didn't make the model, I merely made it a higher poly, and much detailed model. And why not wait for the model to be rigged, so I can pose him for a print. And does submitting prints cost anything?

Not really sure. I think your able to sell prints but I can't say for sure, try asking someone 'round here who has some prints up, like in the Browsing section. There's always some prints being displayed in there.

Nice job replicating the M V armor
Always great to somebody trying to model it themselves rather than just porting and playing with it.

Well, Its the actual Halo CE model, I'm merely messing with the mesh for a much more realistic look, seeing how real i can make it look.

Open mouth, insert foot eh?
Well, at least you're modifying it intelligently yourself with the objective of making it better. Not just posing it and claiming ownership.

I never claim ownership of the models I download or rip, I ain't that good at modeling. I use models I got just to animate and all.
