Description She splits in half from the waist up and flies around hunting for babies after sundown.

Inspired by Arnold Arre's book Mythology Class . I've been re-reading my old copy of it these days.

Thanks, man. Yup. I saw it a week ago. I was trying to look for ways to buy a copy online and such. I didn't know that was an updated version.

Also saw some of his new works, and they're awesome. Mabuhay si Arre!

BTW, are you guys still taking orders for the Baka shirt?

I'll ask my friend if he's still producing the shirts or if he still has some.

Meanwhile, you can visit his multiply account, [link]

Ah, the "Manananggal". Thats what its called in my country. Very common here, actually. Rural folks seriously believe they exist, you know. You're not from the Philippines, are you?

(Well, if you aren't, its nice to see a foreigner's interpretation of the creature.)

I'm from Antipolo. Hahah. So I guess it goes without saying that I know manananggals since there was a tabloid article about one being held at the Antipolo police station about half a decade ago.

Thanks for dropping by.

Christ. You still remember that comic, huh?

Yeah, well I was thinking of drawing some entrails, but the research was bumming me out so I just went with the spine and the misty-blood-thing as her trails.

Thanks for dropping by, Robert.

i love this manananggal of yours, man!

have you read arnold arre's latest graphic novel? it's ANDONG AGIMAT, arnold arre's take on the quintessential Filipino Hero. he doesn't wear a cape, has true grit, and respects women. hard-boiled, i tell ya! and it's written in Tagalog, too, which makes it feel really pulp.

Last work I had from Arre was Trip to Tagaytay. I really should update my collection of Arre's books. That one sounds sweet.

Anyway, thanks man!

Just to add, so far it's my favorite work of Mr. Arre's. And I loved Mythology Class, but Andong Arre certainly topped that.

robotnicc In reply to shinwolf [2007-04-26 02:49:51 +0000 UTC]

Hah thanks, Shin!

Yeah, I never got the hang of that too. So I drew a comic about a lovestuck teenage manananggal back in college. She had all her innards and stuff hanging out of her whenever she split in half.

This is a tame version.
