Description This is loosely based on a drawing I made back in 2002 named "Before I Lose Everything", after a song from the now disbanded Mighty Man and Yuk. But instead of making the same thing, I gave it a bit of a happier tone. Here's the link for the old piece: [link]

The smoke bubbles idea was taken from that time back in 2002 when one of my friends thought that she could make everyone in our group quit smoking by giving everyone a bubble maker. (She followed the logic that we'd be too preoccupied to light a cigarette while we were busy making bubbles.) A few moments later, one of us lit a cigarette and blew smoke into some bubbles. They looked so nice, everyone else lit up and no one was able to quit smoking.

also, i love looking at the old one and the new one and seeing how much you have improved in the last few of years, makes me wonder where i would be if i had pursued that love as much as my photography....

Me too. I've been digging up a handful of them from my backup drive's zips and might do some more remakes.

Part stuff from memory and part refereces, like I always do. When I'm stumped on how to pull off a certain part, I stop and search for references.

Gorgeous piece! It makes me think of summer. I'd very much like to sit on a roof in the warm night and blow bubbles (I'll pass on the smoking, as pretty as smoke bubbles are).

And anything warm is quite excellent, compared to the cold and snow and ice we're getting here. This is just terrible D:

It's done in Painter IX, Adobe Illustrator (for the buildings) and Photoshop. Mostly painter IX.
