Coffee is a curious thing
    Hot like passion
Bitter like disappointment
    We nurse our morning on it
Like a babe at the breast
    Too hot and it scalds us
Too cold and we spurn it
    It is contradiction in a cup
The working man's first love

*Movement Two*
Rain is a breath of life
    The baptismal font of all that lives
Funny -- Curious,
    How we soak in showers every morn
But can't abide the chill of rain
    I prefer a stiff rain
To a warm drizzle.
    Water is lifeblood
Oceans the heart

*Movement Three*
Roads are odd.
    Full of people going everywhere,
Nowhere, and yet so lonely
    The sentinel firs watch as we pass
And see nothing
    I should like to live amongst
Fog and rain and trees and ocean shores
    Life lives there
And Death its close neighbor

*Movement Four*
I like Death.
    Not when people die,
But the concept of an end
    A close, the conclusion to your life's book
It's romantic, tragic, comedic, a birth
    A contradiction.
Like coffee.
