Interesting. It has a simple structure. I (as a professional counselor) do understand the premise. No drug (legal or not) is going to make pain go away completely, and a lot of times people don't understand this. Quick fixes don't work, only time and healing do. And even then pain is always there underneath the scar.

Weed is a good anti-depressant alternative. But you have to have the right strain, or it might make bring up other psychological problems, like bi-polar or schizophrenia.
