Description
(almost as empty as it gets) While travelling for about three weeks across Namibia we encountered some wonderful landscapes and wildlife. This one was taken in Deadvlei, an ancient lake surrounded by dunes, that was cut off some 800 years ago from the intermittently flowing nearby river. The trees died but their trunks were preserved by the dry climate. Part of Sossusvlei National Park near Sesriem, Namibia. Nikon 1 V2, 30-110 mm lens, at c. 170 mm FF equiv. Great surreal quality! I was wondering about the "dark rainclouds", too - before understanding that I am looking at a huge dune.
The shadow is ending so abruptly, it almost looks photoshopped, especially on the left side!
So, great work! Also good composition with the three trees!

Love how dunes in the background fool you into thinking it's a mysterious looking sky
