Description This pot was made by Thomas Polacca (1935-2003), one of the first male Hopi-Tewa potters, from Polacca on First Mesa, Hopi Nation, Arizona, USA, probably in 1975. From what I can find in the books, he was a grandson of the famous potter Nampeyo who revived Hopi pottery making in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The traditional way of making pots involves assembling clay rolls, smoothening and polishing the surfaces and painting with plant material and iron oxides. We found it in a shop in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

This image is the result of 12 shots combined by focus stacking for increased depth of field, using Lightroom and dedicated stacking software Helicon Focus. Nikkor 2.8/105mm macro lens at f8, D850. Jar diameter is c. 12 cm (5 inches). At these settings, the normal depth of field would be  a few mm. Sixth in series of shooting at home while in social distancing - what do you think about this one?
