Oh my goodness, after my fan-art to celebrate my 300st watchers (thanx again
), i just have to made this one.A another fellow DID-Artist just made some pretty DID-fanarts from a well-known DID-cartoon girl Penny Gadget from... yes off course, Inspector Gadget
He did just draws a scene based on a episode, when Penny was dressed up like a medieval princess, tied up and gagged on a long pile, until she plays a movie scene that she will being attacked by a big (mechanic) dragon (and just on time being saved by her dog brain).
It just inspired me, after a saw a MLP-FIM episode about Sweetie Belle and her problems, when she played a drama-scene with her CMC-friends Applebloom and Scootaloo in beautiful medieval-dresses and so, i coming on a idea to draw Applebloom just like penny, also tied up and gagged on a big post, but then, just like in Equestria, confronting a hungry (REAL) dragon, shall she be saved (by the bell)? xD
So i hope you like this one and see you very very soon with new DID arts

Well i must say: i'm really in love with the dresses of Applebloom and also from Scootaloo, they're sooooo really medieval

Sure
I opened it in my painting program (Corel Painter) and made two new layers, one set to Multiply (which darkens whichever colour is on the layer below it) and the other set to Screen (which brightens whichever colour is on the layer below it)
Then I used the colour picker and choose the existing colour that were in the picture already (in some cases modified them a bit) and then painted in the shadows on the multiply layer, and the highlights on the screen layer.
It's a quite simple process, which only take perhaps twenty minutes for a picture like this with a single character.
