Athenos is the astral god of Knowledge, in one of his travels he finds a tribe of rare beings, called by him Hominoids. Observing that they are fated to extinction, he decides to intervene, but could they appreciate the invaluable treasure that he will left in their hands? or may the ignorance become an unbreachable obstacle to their evolution? This is the animated prologue of my title project "Chronicles of the forgotten world", it's an educative material, made as a reading incentive for kids

The concept behind this reminded me of the protoss and the Zel'naga from the Starcraft universe. Pupils learning from a teacher, and when the teacher leaves, they attack them with anger at their betrayal.
The animation is beautiful. The message is powerful.
Excellent work, it deserves a daily deviation.

nice animation... the intro (loading phase) is really poor. the placement and size of typography are also poorly chosen. i suggest you amend this. For such a nice animation you should have a really nice intro.

Oh my, submit your stuff to animation groups at dA, way too cool to stay underground. xP
Fortunately the DD sent me here, awesome job! While the metaphors are simple and straight, the overall feeling and message are clear and well put.
If you'd take advice, just don't overdo the floating scenes where nothing seems to move, try putting movement even in those poses.
Keep going, surely a dose of motivation for readers and animators as well. ^^

Hi! You asked me to take a look and this and here I am! I have watched this short twice as well as your other animations to get a feel for how your skills have developed.
The big advancements I see with this animation is your improvements of character design and storyboarding/pacing. You also seem to be a lot more familiar with the program itself, however there are two things that stick out to me particularly about your animation style.
The first is that you seem to have an idea of how anticipation should work in animation, yet are unsure how to inbetween the keyframes. This sticks out the most in the beginning chase scene (with the mother/son escaping the beast), but I think it improves through the short, so it may be something you will work out with more practice. Specifically I refer to the short clip of the two looking at one another and then take off running. There is an awkward pause that feels somewhat unnecessary with the pacing.
The second also deals with inbetweening, and more so to do with subtler motions. A lot of your characters' movements have very snappy actions. This can be good for a quick reaction shot, comedic effect or ninja-like action reflexes, but most of the time it feels too sudden. Either the character stops moving too suddenly or there is a lack of follow-through animation. I've struggled with this myself--it's nothing to feel bad about! I find a simple solution is to space out the final keyframes, just give the movement a little more time to register to the viewer. Sometimes, you may not even need to inbetween them further, just space them out to have a nice ease into a resting state. The body is almost always in motion, and while this is very difficult to achieve in animation, you can cheat it by easing down your movements to the static keyframe.
These are my two cents-- take them with a grain of salt of course, I've never been trained as an animator. This knowledge is gained mostly from reading up on the topic (appropriate for this short's theme heh).

Thank you so much for the response, "the body is always in motion" that phrase is so essential... that is something that i learned to have in mind just a few weeks ago while i was working my short, i think i was a bit stubborn about the amount of keyframes that i used for all the character movement, at the end of the animation i tried to put more effort in some sequences but the work was done and i had to move on. There is so much things that i learned in the process, about phasing and timing that i couldn't use.
Thank you so much for all of your advices they are all so accurate! i'm going to take them all!. This worth a lot for me jeinu, now i know that i can count with your opinions. Miamaska is awesome ;D greetings!
