Description Made in Ultra Fractal 4, framed and titled in Photoshop CS.
This is #79 (Nostalgia) of the 100 Picture Challenge .

I borrowed a technique used in Photoshop to make the 3D look. I duplicated the shapes layer, filled it with a black gradient and reduced opacity to 50 percent. I then displaced it by a few pixels and placed it beneath the shape layer.

FULL VIEW PLEASE! There are textures in this that cannot be seen in the preview version. Thanks for looking!

Thank-you! I learned something new on this one and have been playing with the same technique on my newest fractals. I just haven't gotten around to framing them yet.

Thank-you! I learned a lot making it and have always loved Art Deco. It's fun when I can incorporate older art styles in fractal art. I've been able to do it with Impressionism too.

That's quite a skill - my fractals proceed more by accident than design!

Thank-you! Some of my best fractals, though, have been accidents. I'll be working toward one thing and, all of a sudden, a completely different and much better picture appears. I'd say it's about 50-50 design vs. accidents. Sometimes, when I'm out of ideas, I just go into Ultra Fractal and play around until something interesting appears.

I often have an idea but when I try to make it happen something completely different comes out - seems to work at producing something though!

That's the most important thing. Fractal art is a form of exploration. We're the first wave of fractal artists, so we're making the groundrules as we go along. That gives us a lot of freedom to create.
