I love this beautiful picture!
Well .. mhh I'm sorry , may I correct you, Kathleen? These are tulips - it is Tulipa tarda, an awesome wild variety from Central Asia.

Thank-you! Thanks also for the correction. Shaun and I looked all over the internet to find out what they were and even asked some of our gardening friends here on DA. Nobody knew what they were. I'll correct it.

They look very different to species of crocus that I've most often seen

I'm not sure that they are crocuses. We did a search on the internet and that's the closest thing we could find. They have bulbs and greenery like crocuses, but don't have the long stamens that crocuses usually have.

Crocuses or not - they are really lovely
I would like to get bunch of this one day. I hope to find out how they're called.

Yellow crocuses - Springtime in Montana -- YAY! I lived in Montana for a while, and noticed that the crocuses were yellow there. They're purple in Oregon.... Just thot I'd share.... Beautiful photo!

We're still not entirely sure that they are crocuses, but that's the closest thing we could find that these resembled. As far as springtime goes, it snowed again last night.

Thank-you! These are the only flowers we have in our yard right now, but they're a nice promise of what's coming. Unfortunately, it snowed again last night. Somebody needs to tell the weather that it's springtime.
