Now, I'm not a mythology expert, but I think that sphinxes are the part-lion part-bird part-woman creature that ask riddles, and you get any wrong, then they eat you. I think.Something that I wanted to do. I'm not entirely pleased with the execution of the idea, or the poses, for that matter, but meh. Maybe one of you will like it.

You've got the myth right in a sense. There is a variant on the sphinx legend in Greek mythology where the sphinx (going by the name of Phix) would only strangle her victims instead of eating them and later throttled herself when her riddle was solved.
