Nathaniel spent his life learning of god, the church, and the devil. He was born to a very powerful religious family and raised to be just so. He never deviated from his place as a priest's son, repented for his sins when he committed them, and adhered to his families strict rules of life so that he could remain in gods good grace. It wasn't a simple task to remain pure. During his youth he had barely spoken to children that didn't attend his families church or live in the orphanage run by a few of the nuns. Even to those he did speak to, he really never pushed himself into becoming their friends. Part of the reason was that the children in the orphanage were mostly hybrids, all staying there to repent for theirs and their parents sins until the day came where they'd get adopted. Another reason was that with every passing day, Nathaniel became more and more enveloped in reading the bible and reciting its entries. It never became an obsession, but it had become enough of an interest to really prevent his socializing with any other children.

As he got older, he remained without anyone to call a friend. It never bothered him though as he saw that god was the only friend he really needed to get by. There did however come moments of weakness with this however. No friends meant he never got the chance to really get close to any girls. Even the nuns seemed unapproachable because of his distancing. This only became a problem for the Feraligatr when he'd think about his parents and their love, or when he'd see a pass couple or a woman with a child. Despite his path leading him down the road of a priest, someone who was to remain pure under god, it didn't stop the Feraligatr from desiring someone close in his life.

As the years went on, that desire never left. To try and hide it from his father, his peers, and even the city itself, he diverted those wants to preaching. Speaking the word of the lord as written in his book, Nathaniel was able to distract himself from his yearnings for another and instead focus them on what mattered the most. He kept suppressing this until even he had been fooled by his actions. His desires became hidden behind the lords word, and slowly Nathaniel grew more and more bitter. Even to this day, Nathaniel full believes his own lies, thinking that his demeanor is how it is because of all the sinners that walk the streets. Hybrids, pirates, slave drivers, brothel owners, homosexuals, they were all the cause of his less than pleasant demeanor.
