With a good wind on 2 loops of 3/16 inch tan sport rubber for those stick and tissue model airplanes, the sub will travel the length of an Olympic sized swimming pool with what might be called the central 3/5 of the distance underwater.
On the pool at the apartments where I lived when model was built it would tag pool's far end while still as much as 4 to 5ft down, or call it, as much as a meter and a half down.
