That is fair, as there is no "mascot" like you said, but again, given how high the demand was for him (pretty much the same as Shantae) and all he got to be was an assist trophy, and of course Shantae's spirit role in World of Light, we might have to accept the fact that it just won't happen. If we keep expecting to hear that announcement then all we could be doing is just setting ourselves up for disappointment every time.

I'm still rooting for her to get in Smash Ultimate's roster, even though she's a Spirit, I don't believe Spirits deconfirm. I believe she still has a chance, her Spirit inclusion is a milestone stretch for her, I believe she has a chance to go further beyond! But at the same time, I'm bracing myself for worse case scenario to happen.

Well if the past E3 taught us anything, any character who originated from a video game series is eligible for the Smash Bros roster. I wouldn't say that scenario being the case quite yet.
