Description entered for =the-photographicpoet s remembrance contest - details found in the news article here [link]

every remembrance Sunday i try to observe the silence at 11 o clock - i remember one year that i worked i was opeing the store and refused to do so until 2 mins past 11 much to the irritation of the customers rattling the door and scowling at me.

likewise recently i read in the news a fashion chain outlet banned a worker from wearing her poppy as it was not part of the stores dress code... [link]

it saddens me.

the poppy appeal is run by the royal British legion
to help provide support for soldiers injured in conflict and the families of soldiers killed in conflict

Beautifully said. I was at the local Sunday Market one year, thousands of people were there and at 11am almost everyone stood still and fell silent - customers and stall holders alike. There was no announcement, just as it turned eleven, this silence just spread out through the crowd. The few that didn't show their respect were given such filthy looks. It was quite an emotional experience

well we had a 2 min silence at work today. i always seem to come across the one customer who doesn't seem to think that tehy ought stop for a few moments - i just walked off into the sock cupboard.
its two mins. why for some people is that too much to ask ?

Some people are in such a rush these days and have no time for anyone else.

some people need a reminder of how much different their lives would have been if hundreds of men and women had not given so much

What song fit better?
last of the English rose by Peter Doherty?
or
Harry Patch (in memory of) by Radiohead?
or I'm wrong...?
