It's taken some time but I'm hoping this shows some improvement on my previous work.I'm a long way of the level of realism I hope to one day reach.
All credit for the pose has to go to Lev Dolgachov the photographer who's photo I used as a reference.
A3 Smooth Bristol
5H-2B Faber Castell 9000 pencils
Blending stump
Derwent pencil eraser
Lots of frustration.
Any one found using my work without my permission will be forced to listen to the Barney song on a continuous loop for a full week. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Honest critiques welcome as I'm self taught and need to know what I could do better.
I'm entering this into the Improve Yourself Challenge at
I'm using this both to encourage me to start drawing again, to develop my level of realism, improve my rendering of hair and tackle at least one new texture such as fabric.

Believe me, I'm a very long way off the level of realism that some of the great photo realistic graphite artist on here achieve.

Yes it's a photo by an Estonian photographer who kindly gave me permission to draw it.
I did originally credit him and have a link to his site, I can't think why I removed it.

I've had nearly 5000 people look at this today and more favourites saved of it in one day than in 7 months. I've done a couple of hundred thank you's so far and have about 700 to do, but it keeps rising.
The only reason its hanging on your wall is to cover up that blood stain where you keep banging Mikes head on the wall.

To be honest, I'm quite shocked at how many people think it's a photo. I guess having drawn it that I can see all the things wrong with it more than others but am still very flattered.
