It's taken some time but I'm hoping this shows some improvement on my previous work.I'm a long way of the level of realism I hope to one day reach.
All credit for the pose has to go to Lev Dolgachov the photographer who's photo I used as a reference.
A3 Smooth Bristol
5H-2B Faber Castell 9000 pencils
Blending stump
Derwent pencil eraser
Lots of frustration.
Any one found using my work without my permission will be forced to listen to the Barney song on a continuous loop for a full week. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Honest critiques welcome as I'm self taught and need to know what I could do better.
I'm entering this into the Improve Yourself Challenge at
I'm using this both to encourage me to start drawing again, to develop my level of realism, improve my rendering of hair and tackle at least one new texture such as fabric.

I really think you are under selling yourself, you have far more beautiful work in your gallery and the only fault I can find is what looks like your reluctance to go dark. Creating good contrast can really bring a drawing to life and make it stand out. That is by no means a criticism as your proportions and shading are flawless but I think it is something that would be worth you trying sometime.

Well thank you very much! Yes, I agree about the darkness, I will try and be braver ha ha I did try once with a drawing of Cheyl Coal and she ended up looking sunburnt! lol so did shy away abit. Thought I may have got abit more darkness in Robbie Williams, but practice makes perfect, I will keep trying. Thank you so much
