Description
This is my Zoro from One Piece model so far.He is about 70 percent finished so there are many flaws. I've only spent about 7.5 hours of working time on it so far.
He has issues with his deformations, clothes (skin is poking through in places), lighitng is a bit hot, pose is a bit stiff, and the textures are placeholders, and he is missing parts as well as unrigged areas like the hands and whatnot but this should be updated as I do more to his model.
I made this pose to find the areas of the pants that I needed to define for certain pre-wrinkle work.
Anyways, enjoy. I'm having a blast making it.
Things left to do:
weapons
back of bandana
rest of his hair
general definition like a collar and buttons
musculature definition (slight bit since its cartoony)
rough touch ups of geometry and edge flow (so far its around 395 faces un-subdivided)
UPDATE #1 7/18/05: Proportional changes, some edge cleanup, Rough shoes added and cloth is set to begin for modeling of wrinkles.
UPDATE #2 7/18/05: Pants have more creasing, beginning motion rig tests for bending soon and possible rough weapon modeling.
UPDATE #3 7/18/05: Pants have been remade with better cloth flow. Hands have been redone with more details.
UPDATE #4 7/19/05: Beginning collar on shirt work, joined head to the rest of the body, redidi hands, fixed pants, changed shaders, added more hair to the side of the head, redid aspects of the skin and the smile.
UPDATE #5 7/19/05: Finished the Chest Area
UPDATE #6 7/20/05: Forgot to put up the toned down chest from last night so I added it up today.
UPDATE #7 7/21/05: Added the new hands/arms to the Zoro model.
UPDATE# 8 7/22/05: Made all 3 swords.....1500 rays means kinda grainy shadows...argh.

Kick ass, but why did you put the sword in his mouth!?

The character fights with 3 swords..one of them, the one most personal to him (was his dead friend's) is used in his mouth.
About to post an updated render with all 3 katanas...Do a search for Zoro One Piece on google and you'll see the 3 swords.

hmm, try to see if you can tone down where the creaces are where the clavicle meets the chest.
I really like this one, it's a good blend between cartoony and anime/manga accurate.

Due to the way I laid the vertices for this it may be a pain in the butt..but I'll probably get to it later tonight or tomorrow...I'm working on a f4u for a half life mod for someone, Nami, and Zoro as well as my Conversation piece so its getting to be a full day of prioritizing hahahaha.

you may jsut have to grab the vertices and pull them out and away, it shouldn't be too hard (then again, I don't know how dense your model is)
alo, I recommend builign the characters with clothes, instead of making the bodies and putting clothes on them, it may suit your purposes later, but it'll serve many problems for binding later.

Actually I used to build entirely with clothes. But recently I've been dealing alot with simulations as well as different designs so now I build the entire bodies as low res references and then cut out the parts that are exposed outside of clothing for use of binding (exactly as you stated). So actually this model ends immediately inside of the shirt....Pretty good optical illusion eh? (Though I do have a full unclothed body lying around somewhere). I kind of feel good knowing that my cut off body looks so much like I built the whole body and put a cloth over it. The veritices of the shirt can be easily fixed...I just have to join the shirt on both sides...its still split down the middle which is why its a bit packed.

that works too, no need having the computer rendering stuff noone will ever see, right?
I was going to do something similar (I call it "action figure building") with a fan character of mine and a friend's but we could never agree on a proper color scheme for him

I't looks great, may be you must be carefull with anatomy ( well it depends of what you wanna do ) but I see strange the clavicle, the line down it (sternum).
He has a very expresive face !

Hahaha... Yeah I just noticed I forgot to update the image from the one where I fixed the overly anatomical shirt.
Let me do that now..
