Process Video www.youtube.com/watch?v=cm0za-…I've been wanting to share this off Patreon for a while, but I've actually been super productive with character refs and commissions so those have been coming out first, whoops? Seems like a nice way to end the year though, with one of my favorite pieces of 2019 <3
I had the sketch for this sitting around for a long time, I liked it a lot and was way too nervous to line it, once I did though... I didn't want to stop working on it |D I really do love Vox, and I don't draw him enough, but when I do I go all the way. It's about time he gets an updated ref so, maybe soon
Either way I really loved getting into a large project again, I don't do full illustrations nearly enough but they make me super happy in a way that's hard to explain. The process of working on them is just fun? I should also note that the background in this version is not technically accurate to Ziel and Vox's universe. the-hellscythe-cat and I have designed their world to be color coded in a way. Every character has a limited pallet, and clothes they put on or items they touch will slowly change to match said pallet. Vox's home city is super de-saturated as are most of the people there (and occasionally they're lacking color altogether).

Nah he's my OC Vox, as it says in the description. He's an android but definitely not anything close to a transformer. Much more human looking. If I had to cite inspiration, I would say more "Daft Punk" would be the source of some of his design attributes.

I... don't think he looks like that at all...? >>; I've seen bits and pieces of TFP and Soundwave really... doesn't have that face shape I don't think? Soundwave has a lot of angular bits and pieces that poke out, and his mask forms a V, last I checked....

Doesn't change the fact they both seem to be wearing some sort of a screen/mirror-like mask on their faces. And that slim to skinny appearence.

Not skinny at all, actually, face on, Vox is actually a little broad, and has very human-like limbs. Soundwave has very angular pieces, and segmented armor design that's common in TFP, and is made to be extra slim and skinny. And... he's purple too? This artist's original character's visor isn't shaped much like that, much rounder, actually, and the character is very blue...
Last I checked having a braid doesn't make one look like Edward Elric, you know what I mean, friend? Or a robot doesn't have to be C3PO, yeah?

They still both look like they wear a mirror on their face. Sometimes to find similiarities, you just to look either deeper or more... Outside.
