The next entry to the Showa era of the Kamen Rider franchise would be a direct sequel to Kamen Rider Black: Kamen Rider Black RX. In the beginning of the series, Kohtaro Minami is captured the by the evil alien empire known as the Crisis Empire, hoping to recruit them to their conquest of Earth. When he refuses, his Kingstone is shattered and he was tossed into space and left for dead. Fortunately, the sun's radiation mutates his Kingstone and he becomes Kamen Rider Black RX. He then fights General Jark and the Crisis Empire to stop them from taking over Earth. The exact grasshopper that Black RX's costume is based on is a Green Milkweed Grasshopper. Kamen Rider Black RX was the last TV Series in the Showa era of the Kamen Rider franchise. However, three movies introducing three new Kamen Riders were released in the nineties. I suppose some of you are wondering, why does Black RX look familiar. That's because Kamen Rider Black RX was the basis for Saban's Masked Rider. If you remember, Masked Rider (a.k.a. Prince Dex Stewart) guested starred on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in the Season 3 premiere, "A Friend in Need Parts 1-3" before his show debuted on Fox Kids. General Jark was known as Count Dreggon in Masked Rider. Saban's Masked Rider didn't really do well. Maybe if Saban chose to adapt Kamen Rider Black first, then Black RX, it may have done better.
