Description
Yesterday was late and I had to write short and quick... but I couldn't so I'm doing it now. I also felt like uploading it to fantasy instead of animals. what happens when the drawings are about fantasy animals? Now this are manticores, you all know them; Manticores, deviantArt community, DeviantArt community, Manticores. And by the power gave to me by this... sort of collection of creatures I made so I do what I please with it, I now declare you internet community and file with creatures drawn on it. Disclaimer: The text you just read hasn't been written by a person in full possession of his mental faculties, but one weighed down by tests and .... stress and lack of sleep in general.1024!) Mantichora: Yea, different spellings I can use as different names, yay!. This is the simpliest design I could think of... well, no, its not but... Ok, Ill explain how simple it is. All the main manticore concepts are there; humanoid face (A perfect human face is quite unlikely from an evolutionary point of view, it might be an exageration of the witness to descrive a slightly rounded head). Then there is this glowing thing in the tail to attract people (humans are stupid), the sting, the wings, everything.
1025!) Manticorus: I designed this one to make it look more alien, almost dinosauresque in a way. I'm not even sure that word exist... I think it does not. Ok whatever, remember, the broad tail with the sting is to... kill.
1026!) Martyaxwar: So, going back to the problem of "A perfect human face is quite unlikely from an evolutionary point of view" I though maybe the creature used some kind of mimicry to imitate the human face, in this case, this chameleon creature has a patch of skin that can shape-shift into the face of the creature it's hunting.
1027!) Triamartya: like a triple manticore. No, its not a scientifically likely creature, but a slightly humanoid head, or a creepy face coming out of the head of an evil lizard doesn't feet the description of a creature with a kind friendly face used to attract its prey. No, it's not even a completely serious design.
1028!) Dracourchin: I focused mayself in the spines for this one, the result has been intriguing and most unusuall. The creature ended up having spines on it. It makes you wander, doesn't it?
1029!) Mantikhoras: Then we've got this other particular characteristic common to most manticores, the doble or triple or whatever jaws, something like sharks. Even when it would have been quite simple, I wen't for something different and made two separate mouths on each side of the head.
1030!) Grotteschi: The word sounded cool and apropiate. This one represents lies as a concept of the manticores. The manticore usually lures people into believing they are a person in distress or something for them to go and be eaten. So, the snake features, the mant many mouths, the...faces in the wings? well, somehow they represent lies.
1031!) Martichoras: Lets face it, mythology can barelly keep anything as it originally was, we've got to face this again, even when we all know that. It only takes someone to see an animal for the next traveller to descrive some characteristic in a different way or add something, untill the fourth guy makes a weird ass thingy from another plane out of the poor animal. Probably the wings of a manticore wouldn't look like those of bats at all, but people didn't had any other not feathered large flying creature to descrive it, and so on with each part of the original creature.
1032!) Polimartiobarbuli: And of course manticores should throw some kind of spines by swinging their tails, shoudn't they? Ok this one does and also... has another identical manticore on its back, they are like naturally conjoined twins. When one is all out of spines, it can just turn its back and let its brother do the job.

Wow, I love the Martyaxwar. The others are also cool, but I think the Chameleon with the human Face is the best idea

I like the idea of those human mimicric elements. That's awesome! Reminds me of the faceless spirit from Spirited Away.

Love the Martichoras. Cool wing design, and the body reminds me of diplocaulus.

Wonderful, as always, but manticores have to be some of my favorite mythological creatures! I think i like the more mammalian ones best, but the 'manticore dragons' are a sweet concept!

Yes, I guess I could have made some more mammalian-like ones, right?
