Description
So, nobody technically asked me to do this, but many people asked ... questions, so, here you have it.I hope it'd be of some help if I can give any.
So yes, this is a tutorial on creature design, not on how to draw the creatures you design, that is up to your own practice... well, technically everything is. But this is my speciality I guess, and there are people far more qualified to teach you how to draw or paint.

this is a really great tutorial!
i have two questions for you
those linework sketches- are they pencil scans or do you draw it out in photoshop?
also, when you go to colour, have any tips for painting process(by that i mean how you apply colour- you really got great harmony between your linework and the colour that is with it!)?

Yea, that is full Photoshop and no nothing special here.. just multiply layers and then going over the details with a small brush white and black if I remember right..

thank you so much for the tips
you know, i dont come on Devart often, but when i do, and i see an artist i really like (like you! ) i always try to ask em' a question or two to learn- and you are the first guy to give me a straight answer
even though im sure it didnt mean much to you, it meant a lot to me
thanks again, and keep up the great work!

This is a great tutorial. I enjoy thinking up creatures, but I usually have a lot of trouble not only making them look plausible, but also being satisfied with the design after a week. haha. This has given me a lot to think about! Thank you!

Whoa, this is really impressive. It's especially interesting how all these creatures are so close to real-life counterparts but manage to look so different.

Hey, that was a REALLY usefu... Oh... This was a Daily Deviation too? I didn't notice that until after I finished reading it. LOL
I wonder if your idea of using the averages between lines can work on mechanical and clothing/armor conceptual designs as well. You've given me a lot to chew on with this piece. Thanks!
