Description
Shot on Korfu / Greece, in the ghost town of Peritheia
Mamiya RZ67 Pro II, 110mm lens, on Kodak TMX 100
I was a bit reluctant of posting the Peritheia series here, because I consider them partly as failures. I underestimated the immense strength of a midday blue sky. Really should have used a strong yellow or even a red filter on that shooting to get a better sky and shadow separation. Oh well. Lazy me.

This captures the once upon a time simple elegance of the place.

Yes, Peritheia was once a prospering town, founded in the 14th century. It was built because the coastal area was unsafe, always endangered by raiding pirates for a few centuries. When the pirating stopped the farmes wandered off to the coast again, because farming is easier on flat ground (Peritheia is way up in the mountain range). Tourism delivered the coupe de grace after the war.
