Description
was doing a study of Rubens and tried applying it on my drawings and life drawing classes. one of the left was just from my expression book, and the two in the right were from a life drawing book.Related content

definitely a different price, I've been commissioned something this detailed before and I got paid £70.

Are you real? Do artists like you still exist? Those who literally sculpt their figures with their strokes?
The kind who can do engravings that end up being printed into bank-notes nowadays?

Oh My GOD!!! This is so amazing...about how long did you take per sketch? I love drawing from models but i haven't had access to any for the past year...I miss drawing nudes, they're way more fun than still-life.

Awesome poses, would you mind telling me what book you are using for life drawing?
And also when shading, do you blend to a neutral skin color and then add shades/highlights over that?

WOW. Your skills just keep getting better and better, man.
I'm a little sad because once you start making the big bucks, you won't have as much time to post here on dA.
And you will make the big bucks (or at least big for an artist!).

The tightness of the forms is different for you, it's good, but it lacks the gestural quality you put into your figures.
That portrait, I love it. Facial planes escape me...

so skillfully done! you have a real handle on the blue colored pencil, if that's what you used. i really like your lines and shading, especially around the old man's eyes.

im very curious how you do that you get the distance right between the eyes and the nose in between and on the axe of the head. also i would like to know how you work.. do you define the form of the head before you define the details in the head or is it the opposide? anyway the portrait is great. some nice strokework you have there

WoooW! These are some powerful sketches! I have 2 questions:
1/ They say "always keep your pencils sharp" but by the look of the awesome drawing on the left I wonder, how sharp should the pencil be? Extra sharp? So sharp that you can almost make a hole in the paper?
2/ In the figure drawings to the right I see crosshatching and the other technique - is it finger smudging? Cause if it is, then - nice combo!

Roggles In reply to Musou-Enrai [2009-11-22 00:57:28 +0000 UTC]
1 - fairly sharp, not all the time though
2 - pretty much what you've said ^^
