Description
We had to draw three of our classmates. The object was to draw right over each portrait and, if you did it right, you weren't supposed to have to change much, except hair and slight variations to the face. The first two were female, in their late teens or early twenties, and the last was an older male (probably in his forties, I guess?). Anyway, it was interesting how little you actually had to change for each person.Charcoal

This looks really neat. I love how you did the shading around the nose and mouth.

Thank you! I'm still a little intimidated by charcoal though...that stuff gets everywhere but where you want it, you know?

This is actually pretty awesome. I like how the forehead doesn't really have definition; it just sort of blends, shadows and all, into the negative space. I also like how the bridge of the nose (their noses, I guess) has no line, no end.

Thanks! We were supposed to leave the white of the paper for the lightest lights on their faces, though that's hard to do when working with charcoal. But, to me, only focusing on values makes drawing a face easier than using just lines. So your imagination just does the work for me. XP

Yeah, it was! Pretty fun to do, too...normally drawing people from life intimidates me; especially if I know they're going to see the end product.
