When someone's angry with us, we can become angry back, but then the anger spreads. Some people believe in fighting fire with fire, in creating a neverending cycle of war and revenge, but the best way to put out a fire is to douse it before it spreads. If you wait until it's an inferno, it's almost unstopable. So, work on calming situations and never repay evil with evil, but be an ocean of calm and kindness. Treat everyone with love, regardless how you are treated. God calls us to this for a reason."Don't repay evil for evil. Don't retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it." (1 Peter 3:9)
"But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also. Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, donβt try to get them back. Do to others as you would like them to do to you." (Luke 6:27-31)

This is amazing on a great level...I never try to fight fire with fire...but there are some people who call me "weak" for not fighting hate with hate.
They event refer me as a "bigot" and a "fake activist"... ;(

It's sad that we've come to a point where people really don't see that the whole "sides" thing is an illusion. We're all different and all think differently, so the real enemy is not outside us, but within us. It comes when we spread hate on and on while thinking we're somehow courageous or brave. True courage is standing up to hate with love, to be able to brush off the attacks. Now that shows true strength.

That's true, though I meant this painting to be metaphorical. In this case, the fire represents anger. Metaphors don't always work, but I try!

No matter how difficult is to calm our anger sometimes, we should always try, and pray to God to help us in such moments. Because there need to be this one person who will forgive instead of getting angry, to break the circle of hurting each other.

Yes, definitely, thank you! As humans, we are tempted to treat others how they treat us, but God's love can work though us to allow us to instead forgive them, like a stream of calm that puts out the fires of hate. Sometimes it's hard because anger makes us feel powerful and in control, but forgiveness and peace feels weak. And, it's true, we do give up our power when we give up our anger. But when we are at our weakest, God is most able to use us.
