As he prepared to face his final challenge, the Kalos League, the boy who’s strength they had all come to respect so much turned around, and spoke these words, and for no longer than a fraction of a second, one could certainly catch a glimpse of the feelings of doubt brought by his past experiences.
In that moment, only Pikachu understood what it truly meant to be Ash Ketchum~
-----------------------------------------------------------------------Something different this time, I'm not even quite sure what inspired me to do this, but basically this is about Ash's inner sadness, knowing that he might have to start over yet again soon, that the loop will indeed be endless.
Granted, this time his chances of winning seem ACTUALLY quite real so I'm excited about that, but nevertheless gotta stay realistic when it comes to this show. No matter what happens I'll never forget about XY, it's been a great time~

I think Ash should retire after Kalos. He needs to realize he's never going to become a Pokemon master.

That will never happen. Ash can be a master if he tries and he'll never give up his dream even if he doesn't catch them all or beat a League Tournament (even though he won the Orange League but that wasn't a tournament but the anime version of him challenging the "Elite 4"). This guy understands his pokemon companions, tries to overcome his and their problems, manages to rank at least the top 16 trainers of a Tournament and he has pokemon that can take on powerful opponents as unevolved creatures. There's not many that are masters and being a champion doesn't really make you one but if that does make you a master than yeah, Ash is a master. He's not the best battler but he does an amazing bond with his teammates.

That's a dumb move. Like it or not, Ash is a very popular character in Japan and is one of the reasons why people watch the show. Them replacing Ash for someone else won't work since Ash going from region to region, collecting badges and entering in leagues has gotten them not many complaints. If you want to see someone else take the mantle of pokemon hero, stick to Pokemon Adventures. They switch up main characters, have different stories to tell and isn't really repetitive.

But what if Pikachu died from a massive heart attack because age finally caught up to him? I think something tells me Pikachu's health isn't all that great. All those years of training is starting to take a toll on the poor little guy.

Dude, there are no signs of Pikachu being weak at all. Also how can it be years when Ash is still 10 and Pikachu still looks in great shape? Time has passed but in that world, time has just passed or it's been a while since no one has aged. They look older but they're still the same age.

When Serena asked that question about traveling together for a long time at the end of the Mirror Universe episode, I so wanted Ash to balk and take her aside. Effectively, he wants to answer yes, but he should know that he can't carry out that promise, and would say so.

Well Serena did help him with his Ash Greninja angst, that's something. In terms of them becoming romantically canon, nah. Maybe if Ash wins this league his story will end and he'll marry Serena, otherwise I wouldn't keep my hopes high.

Have to strongly agree with this in addition to complementing this wonderful sentimental piece. With all the development that took place in the XY saga, the final events are really something to look forward to. Part of me thinks or hopes that you'll be drawing hypes to the big battles coming up in the later rounds of the Lumiose Conference, such as Ash vs Sawyer and/or Alain.

I definitely want to attempt something for both of those, though considering both sides will be using 6 Pokemon it'll be pretty hard xD. I might do a VS screen type thing that just shows the Mon's heads or something. Or just focus on Greninja VS Sceptile/Charizard (tho I still have to include the whole Kalos team because I love them).

Good point. It'll be tough to fit twelve Pokemon into one screen, especially since you tend to focus on the main highlights of the battle (Ash-Greninja vs Mega Sceptile for example). Vs Sawyer would be two episodes, so you could do a two parter for him like you kinda did with Wulfric?
Otherwise, I'm not sure how you'd want to draw it out, but it'll probably come to you sooner or later.

Wulfric was two separate battles though so it's a bit different, but yeah I could split it into two, start with a more VS screen esque drawing and then one for the climax. Depends how much time etc I have, we'll see.
