Once again i was struck with inspiration when a very special lady shared a wonderful and truly captivating fanfic with me. She wanted to write a story of Link from the moral perspective that he is a young child asked to save the world and how in doing so is forever changed.Related content

Nobody ever really questioned stuff like this. Like fighting volvagia, a huge dragon that can kill you? No problem! Gohma? Easy! (Keep,in mind I have arachnophobia) nobody really sees because of the game style how terrifying it would be to actually fight those bosses. I love legend of Zelda and never thought about this until now so thanks^^

I love this piece so much....it really brings home that he was a CHILD forced to grow up way too quickly. I mean yeah, Zelda was sort of in the same position, but she at least had all those years to grow up and hone her skills and learn to cope. Link on the other hand stayed a child through the whole thing mentally and emotionally. He was thrown into the fire and pretty much told to ignore the pain because you're the only one that can save everyone. If you break, we all will die, and it will be because you weren't strong enough.

I would love to send you the link to the fanfic, unfortunately, the fanfic is still unfinished. My dear writer friend has herself a long list of works to finish so sadly i am not sure when it will be available. However, i will post it out to everyone as soon as i get word that it is completed. This really made an impact on me. I always thought it was kinda messed up that Link was really just a 10 year old boy trapped in a grown man's body, being asked to face down things that even other adults would freak out upon seeing. Even when Zelda sends him back in time so he can actually have a childhood, the damage is already been done (assuming she doesn't make him forget everything). The memories of the things he's seen, done, and lived through are going to stay with him forever.

Thanks, i'm glad that my work left such an impression on you. But yes, that is exactly what i was trying to interpret after reading the initial treatments of what a dear friend of mine was trying to convey in her fanfic.

That's beautiful and haunting. I always think about that when I'm playing OOT... I remember when I picked up the game I was about six years old, introduced to it by my cousins. I couldn't even go into the Deku tree because I was so terrified of the skulltulas...
I wonder if the writers did this on purpose to make us fans think deeper about being videogame protagonists?

thank you, i wanted it to reflect that difficult moment when a child faces a fear far beyond his age. As for the writer, well it is that very moral dilemma of asking too much from such a young child that compelled her to create this point of view. I really can't wait to share her story with everyone, it is such a compelling perspective and written so beautifully.

Sadly, the fanfic is still in the process of being written, the only reason i was able to read parts of it is simply because i know the writer personally and i was honored that she asked my opinion on some of it. Rest assured, that as soon as it is finished and i am able to i will share it with you all!
