Again a lovely portrait work- very strong and expressive brush strokes here.
For shadows and dark areas on the skin i would i recommend you a kind of blue
like prussian blue, indigo or cerulean blue. You just need a little bit to mix into the skin colour cause the blue doesn't have to shine through very much- unless you want it

Yes, I often use blue for the shades, or a mix of blue en brown.

You're welcome. Faces are indeed tough. It's a little easier if you're not going for totally realistic as I don't. But still eyes, noses, ears and hair are not easy to do. If you can get all those working together for you, and you can get an expression that gets the viewer wondering, or laughing (as is generally my preference), you've really accomplished something.
