OMG Ronin drew an AC7 Falcon but not a Tomcat??? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS??!!In all seriousness the F-14 in the game deserves a way better paint scheme than what it got.
I might get to drawing that badboy someday.
So after many years the next numbered Ace Combat game is upon, slatted for 2018. The community's in a frenzy and doing everything it can to grab every piece of info available before the game hits store shelves. This time we find ourselves watching Osea and Erusea going at it and Princess D'Elise is everyone's new waifu. I have to admit I was at first on the hype train but have since fallen off as the general fandom continues to run about in circles. That and in light of more info coming out. The story's sounding like utter crap (and pulling out all the fanservice possible to hype things up) which disappoints me greately but the visuals are nice. Among other things "Trigger Squadron", whom I assume is the player unit or one of them, looked pretty cool in their F-16s so I decided to draw em with a few liberties. The placement of the Osean flag felt off, the plane lacks part of its ID number, and the squadron's symbol crowded up the tail too much, so I changed that. I also used the F-16CM Falcon, which is the USAF's current model, rather than the older C. The aircraft is armed to do what the F-16 often does best: drop some bombs and rock some AMRAAMs and Winders in case anyone in the air shows up. Guess now we wait and see what the next war in Usea entails.

You're not looking forward to AC7's story? PA seems to be putting a lot of effort into it this time around, and the core themes seem fresh at least. They do seem to be pandering by combining the two games that are the series' crowning achievements though.
Good art. F-16Cs and F-4Es in 2019 seems more unbelievable to me then either the Space Elevator or the Arsenal Birds. Strangereal must have junkyards filled with thousands of Phantoms as much as they use them.

The whole thing just smells of fanservice and as usual Kono and the gang are more interested in "deep" themes and doing the same thing over again than anything remotely interesting as far as a story goes. Honestly at this point the only thing to anticipate is what it'll actually be when it comes out. Also at this rate the F-16 is likely to serve well beyond 2019 both with the United States and many of its other users, so it's not really much of a stretch at this point.
