An over-simplification of the process used to produce this commission!

While the PSD file was over 30 layers (many duplicates in case of mistakes), there was a very simple strategy:

      1) high-resolution (1200dpi) gray-scaled scan of original penciled base

      2) textures that acted as guidelines for

      3) shading highlights and mid-tones over a shadow layer

      4) solid color fills

      5) previous layers arranged for best effect using opacity, multiplying, etc.

This process was a bit different than what I have seen others do, and the end result is weirdly almost children's book illustration-like (not my words, though I wholeheartedly agree): very bright, rather flat, with some dimension and slight field-of-focus blur. Not exactly what I was going for, but pleasant enough.
