this is what my line art looks like at its best. I really want to make bold, clean lines like your newer art, but all my drawings end up shaky and unrefined. how do you mange your bold lines??

First off, thanks for the compliments!
What I did to make my sketches cleaner is to start off my sketches with larger brushes and softer strokes. Once I have a basic shape for my drawing in place, I go over the lines with a smaller brush and erase away anything outside of the lines. Because I started with a larger brush with soft strokes, there's none of that scratchy/hairy looking left overs.Β
Another thing you can do is create separate layers and draw over the top of your rough sketches with cleaner lines. Just go slow and take your time.Β
You probably have the same problem I did for a long time. Instead of drawing with long, deliberate, single strokes, you probably make a series of quick stokes in order to create a shape or line. I would recommend practicing to make long deliberate strokes. It's going to be really really awkward at first, but you'll get the hang of it if you keep practicing.Β
I hope that helps!

You're right that's exactly how i draw. scratchy. I'll follow your advice and slow down while drawing longer lines. Thanks for the advice. Your art really inspires me to get better!

Nicely nice. I know we're supposed to be looking at the figure, but I think you did a very fine job with the background, especially the water. Great stuff.

Thanks! Haha, I really just kinda slapped it together to go with the foreground. Kinda just scribbled and was like, "Hey, those look like pillars." And did a little fine tuning to make it work.
