Description
Scrapped later, etc. There's talk of there being a bowling party followed by DnD during the week off, and I felt at loss for characters. I'm saving Dunra for a different campaign, Minre is d.ead, and the rest are previously engaged. And I don't want to play Lane, because I played her poorly.
So I ended up recycling one of my space pirates and made him into the most adorkable (almost) and fail-tastic fighter to exist.
Because if he wins at something, it's amazing, and if he fails, its hilarious. Win/win!
Dante is a native of Waterdeep and spent most of his days getting picked on by his friends. He usually stays home and fancies making/tweeking/breaking things.

I dunno what Jess has-- I think it might actually be the first edition. The vast majority of our campaigns start in Waterdeep.

Sounds like Forgotten Realms to me.
Is it the D20 system or...?

Um... um... I think? D: We use a d20 to gauge whether we land a hit or perform certain tasks.

Yeah, you're almost definitely using 3rd ed. or 3.5. 1st Edition is from the 70's, and didn't use d20's. I didn't think that was what you were using.
We use the Eberron campaign setting and a modified version of the 3.5 rules called Pathfinder. It's quite cool. My current character is a racist, sexist, xenophobic megalomaniac. He's Lawful Good.

We actually use 2nd edition Ad&d, but bend the rules a lot etc. But I'm so tempted to get a bunch of third ed books.. We do use the D20's. And we're generally in a really weird version of the Forgotten Realms setting that various DM's have perverted over time.

Ah, that's neat. Thanks for clarifying.
Shows you what I know, I thought the d20s were native to 3e.
I'm not actually that big of a fan of DnD, I prefer other, simpler RPGs.

2nd ed is a little... "off the grid", so to speak. But it's pretty simple if you play it whilst ignoring some of the rules.
Pardon my prying, but what do you play?

'tis not prying.
Simplest system I know of is the current edition of Paranoia. It's also my favorite system to run, and probably my favorite RPG period.
I enjoy playing Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader, the Warhammer 40k RPGs, and Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay isn't half bad either.
New World of Darkness is another favorite of mine.
Ones I've been reading about and want to play are Don't Rest Your Head, Feng Shui, Unknown Armies, and Exalted.

Ooh, I love Paranoia. Random chaos= awesomeness.
Never played the RP for Warhammer, 40k or Fantasy. Just the Tabletop strategy game. I hear the roleplay is fun though.
Exalted is supposed to be amazing... Call of Cthulhu and 'Nuff are pretty good too. Haven't heard of Don't Rest Your Head, though.

I GM Paranoia. I give my players infinite clones as an excuse to get them to go to other rooms and die, rather than keeping all the random maulings stationary.
All the Warhammer RPGs are good. Warhammer Fantasy is to DnD what Paranoia is to other sci-fi RPGs, though. High amounts of chaos (and Chaos), small amounts of advancement, and lots and lots of bodies.
I wanna play CoC as well, it sounds awesome.
Don't Rest Your Head is about a group of people who, for some reason or another, have not been able to sleep for days. They soon see a mysterious door and enter it, discovering a place called the Mad City. They basically have to stay awake and survive a night in the Mad City using their super-powers that are born from them being insane. Except the more you use the powers, the more insane you go. If you completely lose your mind or get too tired, you crash. If you crash, you fall asleep forever or, much much worse, become a denizen of the Mad City.
TV Tropes has a great article on it.

Infinite clones sounds fun... Every campaign I've run in Paranoia hasn't been able to move since people are far too busy stabbing each other. I dunno, maybe infinite clones would at least help get the ball rolling...
The Warhammer RPG's sound awesome in that aspect. No plot and lots of bodies piling up... I really need to find a handbook for those games.
CoC is amazing. My last character in that game was exploded by tentacles. 'Twas quite awesome.
Ah, TV Tropes. Yeah, that sounds like an incredible game, and one pretty much designed to terrify people.

I see. That makes sense. I only guessed from looks-- the books are sort of in the falling-apart state.
Sounds like a wonderful character. I could name several characters that are "current" simply because we have a number of unfinished campaigns. Parental units are mostly involved in this.
