As for the animation - if you want something cheap (free!) and cheerful - try this www.gifpal.com/  the only restriction is the number of pictures used in the animation and the output size is small.  If you want something a little more advanced I use this program www.789soft.com/gif-maker.html which allows you to make larger animations - however it is a bit temperamental and needs playing with to get it to work properly (not  brilliant but works for me!).
