Hi You
thanks so much for so many comments, I'm really very grateful and flattered
You know we discussed "Bokeh" the other day amd you were curious if your image had captured it?... well regarding this one, I think it's a good example of bokeh and how it can help. As we discussed, bokeh is just the effect of blurring the background. In this photo I deliberately shot with as low an f-number as the lens would allow, to give me as much bokeh as possible, so that the boat in the background wouln't be sharp. If I had used a higher f number it would have dominated the photograph with it's strong lines and the seagull would have been lost in the compostion.
I also dropped this image down to black and white because the boat was very strongly coloured and even when blurred out like this, it was too strong.
In short, the reason you can't really read the boats name accross the cabin is our friend "bokeh."
I hope that helps, I've been wracking my brains since we discussed it to think of a way to help explain - I hope that did the job.
Thanks again for the comments and support my friend.
