Description 1957 Buick Special for sale in front of Tubby's diner (AKA: Rockwood court and Cafe) in Springfield Missouri, September 2015.

I mistook the rest of the lot as being a used car lot, but probably only the three in front were for sale.

No thanks, my stepbrother already has a couple of Buicks from the 1950's that don't run.

Well, some of the stuff may be a bit boring, but it is all part of the package of the Route 66 exploration.  I'm trying to post things in the order I found them (mostly in East to West order) but by the end of the Weekend I hope to at least have the "Coffin Company" pictures posted.  I think you'll like those.

Nothing boring about this stuff at all.  All this stuff is disappearing and the only thing we have left is memories and pictures.  There are a lot of things from my younger years that are long gone and might have seemed boring or trivial at the time.  I was young and dumb and didn't think to document them in photographs.  Now they are gone and some of that stuff has proved impossible to find pictures of.  I for one thank you for capturing all of these images and preserving a little chunk of our history.  I hope you keep the photos coming sir, I appreciate and enjoy work.

Every time I drive down Highway 44 I look in vain for roadsigns advertising the Foxfire Inn (or maybe lodge).  It looked like a case where the place was out of business, but the signs were still standing.  I always wanted to take the exit and see if i could find this place.  Sometime in the last 15 years the signs have disappeared and I don't remember even which exit I would take.  There might not have been anything to see or anything worth seeing, but now I'll always wonder.
