Description
the hint coin saga continues... I gotta say, I've been waiting for Layton to find a hint coin on the moon for a long time, and it finally happened in PL vs. AA. I was so excited.Βprevious hint-related hi-jinks:
though i gotta say, i think this comic is really the spiritual successor to 's comic:
UPDATE: made a sister comic based on the same joke, and it's great! Check it out:

And gdi Layton, that's not what a gentleman should do !

I will say, those hint coins are pretty helpful in Layton vs Ace Attorney its totally worth your time finding them.

Theghastlygastly In reply to RoochArffer [2014-10-01 11:49:50 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, but that thing must get dirty working in a bakery. Luke should really buy some clothes (even if they're in that era's style.)
And it just occurred to me, but where did Layton get a space ship? XD

i don't think that stopped phoenix or maya
i think that's part of why it took him so long to get to the moon and back

Theghastlygastly In reply to RoochArffer [2014-10-03 19:58:20 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, but even if he did build a spaceship, somehow, he would need to learn how to operate it, which is impossible in that time era...

i'm sorry but have you seen the machines in the Layton games? i don't know what era they live in but they Β have entire towns full or robots and whatever you wanna call the mecha from the Last Spectre... there were also time machines.. i think they've gotta have spaceships.Β

Theghastlygastly In reply to RoochArffer [2014-10-04 20:44:54 +0000 UTC]
But didn't they travel back in time in this game?
(I still have yet to play it, lol.)
But yeah, I guess canonically Layton games bring sci-fi mechs into an old fashioned setting. XD

RoochArffer In reply to Theghastlygastly [2014-10-04 21:14:27 +0000 UTC]
without spoiling anything, i would say the game presents it as another realm/dimension rather than time travel. though it's uh, certainly a more old fashioned dimension. nick keeps getting annoyed that people don't know what fingerprinting is, etc

Yeah, how does investigation even work in that game?
No wonder people are always falsely accused of stuff

The-Quill-Warrior [2014-09-29 06:12:20 +0000 UTC]
Hahaha, brilliant!
I just love the fact that Luke didn't bother to change his clothes in the long time he has been waiting for Layton.
Also, a space suit with a built-in top hat? Automatic win.
Though my envision of this idea is a lot different to yours. I think I might go ahead and do that little comic strip after all.

RoochArffer In reply to The-Quill-Warrior [2014-09-29 08:58:12 +0000 UTC]
thanks!
haha, well i had to make him recognizable somehow now didn't i. plus they wear very different clothing than what he is used to in Labrynthia
I kinda figured that would be the case. I had a very specific vision for this comic, and i love how it came out. I was also unwilling to draw a spaceship ahaha.Β

The-Quill-Warrior In reply to RoochArffer [2014-09-29 16:14:39 +0000 UTC]
That's true.
I don't blame you for not wanting to draw a spaceship. They can be very tricky to draw.
Though if you had drawn one that also had a top hat on it, I would have fallen on the floor laughing.

RoochArffer In reply to The-Quill-Warrior [2014-09-30 22:10:23 +0000 UTC]
i'd likely have had to look up more references than i did for just the space suit for sure
haha, good idea. i mean, if such a gentleman is driving the space ship then it's basically a necessity right?

I like many of these things. Β The striped hat-shaped space helmet, the tiny clothes on the presumably homeless (yet employed) man-child, and shadow stuff. Β

RoochArffer In reply to SporeRedland [2014-09-29 08:58:57 +0000 UTC]
why thank you.Β
i figure his clothing was probably all he had to remind him of his past before he was left alone in a strange town where everyone thinks magic exists

shhh no, of course not. I think when I draw Layton and write his lines, I'm actually just imagining a puzzle-solving robot.Β i can't even begin to imagine what older Layton would look like.Β
