Wardman Sicklepatch - Snail rider.
The idea of this piece was to create sort of a fun fantasy picture of a house built on top of a snail. I also wanted to try a different type of sky then I've done. Sort of a "big weather" day where the there's light rays pouring through gaps in the clouds. It was a little cumbersome for me, and there're some flaws. I felt I had a lot of success with some new texture brushes I made for the snail skin.
Original Resolution 3200_2400. 12 hours in photoshop CS1, 15 if you count the sketches.

I watched the Video and saw how much peroration you went into before you did the actual drawing...the sketching and such...it came out just amazing.. i love this so much and i think it would make for a captivating children's story..

Watched the video.... amazing, amazing, amazing hard work, the preliminary sketches alone blew my mind completely, the amount of preparation puts anything I've ever done to shame.
Thanks for posting that video, now I'll be less prone to whining about skillz and talent, and less likely to leave things half-assed because I'm tired of looking at the picture. That video showed me the value of hard work, and that alone is worth a +fav.

I am absolutely in love with this, I like the brilliant landscape you have provided, creating a glimpse into a strange magical world, where snails are... huge!.. or people are small...
After watching the video on YouTube, I am lost for words. I marvel at the amazing level of planning and testing you went through before you even started the painting. Once you had started, the attention to detail never feigned. This definately paid off!

This is really nice. The snails my favorite part. To make it pop more play with the light of the sky falling on the house (like highlights and such). It'll add nice depth. I'll need to start using more texture brushes. I'm prone to the default.
