haha yes in some cases i'm sure it would be    i was wondering cause small towns like mine the vast miles of roads are paved but there is also many miles of town owned gravel roads ..and sometimes the brush and trees begin to encroach upon the roads ..in these cases a town crew will be dispatched to trim back the brush and cut down any trees that look as if they can become a hazard if a big storm blew thru ..the brush and small branches are usually run thru a chipper  but larger trunks are cut into maybe 4-5 foot lengths and left piled on the side for towns folk to grab since its town land anyway ..if its private property then yes that would surly be theft    thanks i was just scurrilous

here in Poland it wouldn't be possible, even if the wood belongs to the city or county or (like here in this photo) lies in the state-owned forest, you have to buy it first

oh okay ..in state forests here im my state its kinda the same ..you can purchase lumber rights to numbered lots and any tree that was tagged within your lot you could cut down and keep  ...its the states  way of keeping the forest from having to much dead dry trees and or from being too overgrown ..it helps to slow down a fire if there is little underbrush and dead or dying trees about

Ta w oddali jest większa  
Może i dobrze, ale ja to pozytywny wariat jestem na szczęście  
I myślę, że nikt by się o to nie obraził, a szczególnie zwierzaki
